Tribute to E. Sottsass
On a December evening several years ago, a few friends gathered around a table (where fine red wine was certainly not wanting) and they began to wonder how to explain the idea that ornament should no longer be considered a crime.
Unfortunately, aesthetics, like all questions of doctrine, has often fallen into the hands of those who profess the primacy of the intellect over the reasons of the heart.
This occurs because exploration of the sphere of the emotions can be dangerous, and knowing how fragile Man is, it is wiser to avoid leaving the keys to ourselves lying around unattended.
But so much of what happens does not depend on our will, and the time will come when things again appear in all their disarming truth and simplicity; it is surprising how much they can still say to us. Everything seems natural and will win us over like a revolution within everyone’s reach.

They had to start with the basics, and unapologetically set out on a new path of literacy that could begin with elementary observations on composition, colours, surfaces, and more.
The host of that evening had a first name that recalled another myth: it was Ettore (Hector). Much of the spirit he dispensed seemed like a sort of exotic promise; there was in him an open perspective on worlds so far away that you were eager to listen to him to know what the dark side of the moon looked like.
Thus, there was a renewal of trust in the imagination; the Nile and the Mississippi mingled their courses and among the fertile expanses of papyrus, a new pyramid suddenly appeared. It was called Memphis.
Today we celebrate the 40 years that have passed since that evening in December and, seeing as Ettore remains a very bright star for us, we felt it was important to thank him through this small project, about as big as a room.
